Abstract

Batch experiments were conducted to study the competitive adsorption effect of Pb2+and Ni2+ ions through synthesizing zeolite. Some influencing factors were investigated to discuss the competitive adsorption effect of mixed heavy metals. The adsorption kinetic modes for the competitive adsorption of Pb2+and Ni2+ ions were also investigated. The results showed that, the adsorption efficiency of Pb2+and Ni2+ ions was increased with the increasing of zeolite dosage, while the saturated adsorption capacity was decreased gradually. The competitive adsorption order was Pb>Ni in mixed heavy metals during the whole adsorption process. In acidic environment, the Pb2+ adsorption inhibited the adsorption of Ni2+ in mixed heavy metals. The adsorption efficiency of Pb2+and Ni2+ ions was increased continuously with the rise of temperature and the prolonging of reaction time. The adsorption efficiency of Pb2+ ions was higher than that of the Ni2+ ions in different reaction temperature. The adsorption kinetics of Pb2+ and Ni2+ ions on zeolite were matched to the pseudo-second order adsorption model.
