Abstract
We present here a new mechanism of inertial emission of fast particles in incomplete fusion reactions. Analytical formulae for the cross section and the angular momenta associated to these inertially emitted particles (IEP) are derived within some approximations. In a more realistic calculation it is shown that there is a strong competition between this inertial emission and the PEP emission [15], depending crucialy on the interaction between the particle and the target nucleus. Using a proximity potential for this interaction, one gets numerical results in good agreement with experimental data.
