Abstract

The article discusses the findings of a thematic analysis of the factors that influence the sharing of open research data during times of crisis. The study involved a literature review and a focus group with researchers and specialists from different fields. The goals were to identify factors affecting data sharing and to propose a theoretical model to help research institutions understand the challenges in sharing their data. The study presents a theoretical model with four dimensions: Contextual, Motivational, Technological/Infrastructure, and Financing, along with categories, factors, definitions, and characteristics. It highlights the crucial role of motivational factors, indicating that researchers' attitudes and beliefs drive data sharing. Understanding these factors can significantly impact decision-making and the development of public policies based on the Open Science model. The article concludes with suggestions for future research to address barriers and resistance to sharing research data, particularly during times of crisis.
