Abstract
The present study aims to follow up some histological changes in experimentally infected Balb/C mice with hydatid cysts and treatment with plant extracts of Cuminum cyminum and Cinnamomum zeylanicum. The result showed of inferential reagents of aqueous and alcoholic extracts of plants indicated that C. cyminum and C. zeylanicum contained flavonoids, tannins, phenolic compounds and glycosides and did not contain alkaloids. Relativiely the histopathological study of the lungs and kidneys, the present study showed the occurrence of tissue changes represented by congestion with the thickening of the blood vessel wall and the occurrence of PMNs infiltration in addition to hemorrhage and the appearance of fibrosis in the lungs of the infected groups. As for the kidneys, the results of the current study showed damage to the renal glomeruli and convoluted tubules, in addition to thickening of the walls of blood vessels, hemorrhage, lymphocyte infiltration, and inflammation in infected mice groups. As for the groups treated with plant extracts, no tissue abnormalities appeared in the lung and kidney tissues, as the results showed a good response to the extracts through the occurrence of a therapeutic response to the lung, where no infiltration of inflammatory cells appeared in the area, and no congestion appeared. The results also showed the normal histological pattern of the kidneys and the regularity of the shape of the renal glomeruli and the convoluted tubules and no infiltration of the inflammatory cells appeared in trearted groups.
