Abstract
Introduction: Evaluation of the vessel lumen in coronary segments with severe calcification or stents may be limited with current generation cardiac CT angiography (CTA) technology. Recently, a novel ultra-high-resolution CT scanner (UHRCT) with detector width of 0.25 mm has been released, resulting in improved spatial resolution on 1024*1024 image matrices. In this pilot study, we compared the lumen volume in highly calcified or stent-containing vessels by the assessment of automated lumen volume detection. We hypothesized that UHRCT results in larger lumen volume vs. conventional CT (CRCT) due to reduced partial volume effect in severely calcified vessels.
