Abstract

Objective: The objective of this study was to compare the anatomic and functional outcomes of the different graft materials used in tympanoplasty. Settings and Design: This was an observational, cross-sectional study. Patients and Methods: The study included 243 patients operated at Tertiary Care University Hospital, from January 2011 to December 2015. The study excluded patients who had previous ear surgery and patients with cholesteatoma and nose and paranasal sinuses diseases. Tympanoplasty was done under general anesthesia. The retroauricular approach was primarily used. All grafts were placed using the underlay technique. Audiological testing of all patients was done preoperatively and postoperatively. Statistical Analysis Used: All data were entered into Excel and analyzed using MedCalc Statistical Software version 15.8 (MedCalc Software bvba, Ostend, Belgium). Descriptive statistics was used.
