Abstract

Recently a simple, single nuclear-scatter model has been used to evaluate the functional shape of the longitudinal projected range distribution for ions incident at energies well above the stopping-power maximum. The predictions of this model are compared here with results from the Monte Carlo code TRIM, and with published transport code results, and the respective merits of the three approaches are discussed.
