Abstract

The purpose of the study was to comparison of the effect of eight week continuous and intermittent aerobic training in resting levels of glucose, insulin and insulin resistance in 17–25 years healthy obese males. Fifty participants randomly selected into two groups include continuous and intermittent aerobic groups. Levels of fasting glucose was measured by enzymatic and fasting insulin was measured by ELISA methods. Insulin resistance was determined by HOMA-IR formula. The effects of training were assessed by t pair test. Posttest measurements were compared between groups using the independent sample t test. Finding in the study have shown a significant decrease in glucose, insulin resting levels and insulin resistance in pretest and posttest, but was no significant difference between groups (p≤0.05). In conclusion, the eight weeks continuous and intermittent aerobic training were effect to reduce resting levels of glucose, insulin and insulin resistance that might relate to decrease of body mass index.
