Abstract
SummaryThirty cases in whom suprapubic bladder drainage was employed following vaginal surgery were compared with a control group using urethral catheterisation. In the former group, there was a decreased incidence of postoperative urinary tract infection; time for return of normal bladder function and length of hospital stay were reduced, less nursing care was required and patients found the suprapubic catheters more comfortable.
