Abstract
The paper describes comparison between two optical amplifiers Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) and Erbium Ytterbium Co‐doped Fiber Amplifier (EYCDFA) of their different performance parameters Gain, Noise figure and Output optical power. Simulation of three pumping schemes of co‐directional, counter‐directional, and bidirectional, has been done. Gain and Noise Figure of 14 meter EDFA and EYDFA at −20 dBm input signal power have been compared under different pumping schemes. Pumping wavelength of 980 nm considered. Relationship between output optical power and input pump power at input signal power of −20 dBm under different pumping schemes were also obtained. For simulation of optical link, license version of OPTSIM 5.2 is used.
