Abstract
Piezoelectric materials have electromechanical property. The behaviour of piezoelectric materials is affected by ambient conditions. In this paper comparison of the performance of PZT-5H and PLZT piezoelectric is done. The non–linear response of the piezoelectric coefficient and dielectric constant with change in ambient temperature is included in the experimental analysis for PZT-5H and PLZT. Both the materials are used as a sensor in a dynamic structure to analyze the effect of variation of temperature on sensor voltage. Sensor voltage is generated as a result of the mechanical displacement in the dynamic structure. The comparison of the experimental performance of both the materials as a sensor is done to select the one which has less non-linearity with respect to the temperature variation. The material with less non-linearity is more suitable for active vibration control (AVC) of a dynamic structure.
