Abstract
Five- and six-membered α-alkoxyvinylmetal(II) complexes of type trans-C 6Cl 5M(PPhMe 2) 2 CCH(CH 2) nO (abbr. [M]— CCH(CH 2) nO , where M = Ni, Pd, Pt; n = 2 and 3), were prepared by the reaction of [M]—Cl and Li— CCH(CH 2) nO , and were treated with perchloric acid to give cationic five- and six-membered cyclic alkyl(alkoxy)carbene complexes, [M]— + CCH 2(CH 2) nO ClO 4 −. The relative Brønsted acidity of [M]— + CCH 2(CH 2) nO followed the order M = Ni <Pd>Pt and [M]— + CCH 2CH 2CH 2O < [M]— +C(OMe)Me < [M]— + CCH 2CH 2CH 2CH 2O .
