Abstract
Background: Cardiac Resynchronization utilizing biventricular pacing appears to lessen symptoms and may provide hemodynamic benefit to patients with congestive heart failure. Previous studies have demonstrated reduction in pulmonary capillary wedge pressure (PCWP) and reduction of mitral regurgitant V-wave by bioventricular pacing. Our previous computer model study showed that atrioventricular and interventricular synchronies are less effective than intraventricular synchrony for reducing mitral regurgitant V-wave (JACC 39: 459A, 2002).
