Abstract

In this study two different methods of sampling and gas chromatographic (GC) analysis for monoterpenes were compared. Charcoal tubes were analyzed by GC after solvent extraction, and the contents of Tenax tubes were determined by a GC equipped with a cold trap injector. Both methods were tested first in the laboratory and then in a plywood factory. The Tenax cold trap method was found to be much more sensitive than the charcoal method, giving about three times higher monoterpene concentrations.
