Abstract

Hard and tribological coatings are very frequently used as wear protection on variety of steel parts in many applications, e. g. cutting tools, movable parts. Applications of hard coatings on soft substrates are accompanied by difficulties with perforation of coatings when load overcomes some critical value. Our research was aimed on investigation of behavior of hard and wear resistant coatings deposited on nickel substrates, which is an alternative material for construction of forms for plastic parts. Properties TiN coating made by magnetron sputtering, DLC and W-C:H by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD), WC by electro-erosive deposition and TiOx by atmospheric plasma torch were investigated. The coatings were characterized by their thickness, hardness and tribological properties. Application as a wear resistant coating were tested by a simmulation of tapping mechanism.
