Abstract

Macro Basis Function (MBF) methods such as the Characteristic Basis Function Method (CBFM), are used to solve large antenna array problems efficiently with the Method of Moments (MoM). MBFs are defined over subdomains, which are usually the antenna array elements. In this paper, MBFs are generated over larger, overlapping subdomains and a distance-based criterion is used to generate higher-order MBFs. Results show that fewer degrees of freedom are required to provide similar accuracy than with the conventional CBFM.
