Abstract

Objective Evaluated the difference of lung volume response to bronchodilators in patients with different severity chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).Methods 411 patients with COPD were enrolled in this study. The severity of COPD was graded according to the GOLD criteria. The change of FEV1,FVC and IC 20 minutes after inhalation of salbutamol 400 μg via spacer were measuered and compared. Results The values of FEV1,FVC and IC were significantly increased after inhalation of salbutamol ( P < 0.01).The improvement of FEV1 decreased as a function of the severity of COPD.In contrast, the improvement of FVC and IC were increased in those with more severe disease. Conclusions The improvement of FVC and IC is increased in patients with more severe COPD.The reversibility of COPD should be evaluated by FVC and IC.
