Abstract

The mechanical properties of chalcogenide glasses in general are important given their application in protective coatings, infrared optics, sensors and other devices. The mechanical properties of glasses and glass-ceramics were studied utilizing Vickers hardness, in torsion mode, which requires a complete separate measurement setup, or by bending, used to determine the viscoelastic properties of polymers and composites. All this investigation shows a low mechanical property what limit the application of chalcogenide glasses [1]. We made comparison between bending and torsion investigations of chalcogenide glass mechanical properties.
