Abstract

Comparative evaluation data for control of Hypoderma lineatum and H. bovis are presented on dermal pour-on and intramuscular injectable solutions of famphur (Warbex®) to cattle m 3 regions of California. The intramuscular injections were made at an experimental treatment of 15 mg/kg, while pour-ons followed a label-recommended treatment of 40 mg/kg. Grub reductions following pour-on and intramuscular applications averaged, respectively, 87% and 97% for calves and 100% and 93% for cows in a commercial herd. Average grub reductions for these same applications to a University steer herd were 100% and 94%, respectively. Minor difficulties experienced with the intramuscular applications are discussed. No adverse side effects were observed in any cattle tested with the 2 famphur formulations.
