Abstract

The half effect vapour absorption systems are capable of operating with low temperature heat sources such as solar heat, industrial waste heat and geothermal energy. This paper presents results of simulation of exergetic performance of half effect vapour absorption cooling system using R134a – DMAC as the working fluid pair. The performance of this system is compared with that of the single effect system with the same working fluid under various operating conditions. The performance of the half effect system is better than that of the single effect system from the viewpoint of exergetic efficiency at low evaporating temperatures and high condensing temperatures. The minimum generator temperature for the half effect system is 30°C less than the single effect system for the ideal operating conditions.
