Abstract
To avoid an interference between the race-specific resistance response and an undefined host resistance or pathogen fitness, we have studied the interactions between 2 couples of bean susceptible and resistant NILs and 3 different races of the fungus Colletotrichum lindemuthianum (Cl), the causal agent of anthracnosis. The time course of plant defense reactions was monitored by following the symptoms development and the fungal infection process and by measuring accumulation of mRNA corresponding to bean PAL, CHT, CHI and Hyp4,1 genes in infected leaves.
