Abstract

Objective To compare colloidal gold test method and chemiluminescence immunoassay in the detection of human chorionic gonadotropin(HCG).Methods HCG levels in 56 serum specimens were assayed by colloidal gold test paper method and chemiluminescence immunoassay respectively. Results Fifty-six cases of serum specimens were detected by colloidal gold test paper, negative in 18 cases(including 1 cases of false negative),weakly positive in 8 cases, positive in 12 cases, strong positive in 18 cases.HCG < 2.9 IU/L in 15 cases and 2.9-830 251 IU/L in 41 cases were detected by chemiluminescence immunoassay. The difference between the two methods was significant (x2 =9.6,P <0.01).Conclusions Colloidal gold test paper method is simple and convenient, but it occasionally has false negative, compared with chemiluminescence immunoassay method.Sensitivity and precision of chemiluminescence immunoassay is high compared with colloidal gold test paper method, but it has a narrow linear range.Colloidal gold test paper method can be used to select serum dilution ratio for the chemiluminescence immunoassay. Key words: Colloidal gold test paper method; Chemiluminescence immunoassay; Human chorionic gonadotropin
