Abstract

The aim of the current study is Comparison of attachment styles and personality dimensions in women who are victim of family violence and ordinary women. The approach is causal-comparative. Statistic population of the research included all women who referred to Tabriz family court as violence victims during year 2010. Descriptive statistic tests, CHI-SQUARE tests and multivariate analysis of variance were applied to data analysis. Results proved a significant difference between ordinary women and those of violence victim in all personality dimensions. In conclusion the account of an insecure type of attachment style in women who suffered from violence not only caused a cold relationship but also lowered devotion and commitment level and ultimately occurred a malformed type of behaviour as violence. Women those of suffered from violence with a high neurosis potential, low amiability level, lack of flexibility and low level of extravagancy cause a poor matrimony and create circumstance for family violence with constant arguments.
