Abstract

There are three kinds of typical electromagnetic calculation methods, i.e., high frequency asymptotic method, differential equation method and the integral equation method, which are represented by physical optics (PO) method, finite element method (FEM) and moment method (MoM), respectively. Feature selective validation method was proposed by IEEE EMC Association 1597.2 standard in 2011. In this paper, feature selective validation method is used according to the aforementioned three methods to calculate the radar cross section (RCS) of the reduced size Brahmos missile model in two different frequencies. The differences of the results are analyzed. Results show that the similarity between the results of using PO method and MoM is poor, especially in the lower frequency. However, the results of using FEM and MoM are quite similar. Besides, the similarity does not change with the frequency.
