Abstract

Article History: Received 10.03.2014 Received in revised form 07.08.2014 Accepted 15.09.2014 Available online 08.10.2014 The aim of this study is to determine whether political skills of student athletes in individual or team sports are differentiated in terms of personality types. The sample group consists of 315 students who are enrolled at the School of Physical Education and Sports in Sakarya University, Marmara University, Kocaeli University and Mugla Sitki Kocman University. SPSS 15.0 software package was used in order to evaluate the collected data. As a conclusion, no significant difference was found between political skills of student-athletes and whether they do sports in individual or in a team. “Thinking” and “Feeling” personality types, which are preferred by student-athletes when making decisions, differ in terms of “Social Astuteness” dimension of the Political Skill Inventory and whether student-athletes do sports in individual or in a team. © 2014 IOJES.
