Abstract

This paper presents a comparative study of a compression ignition engine operating in different situations and at different loads and engine speeds. There are shown graphs of experimental results, obtained by using concepts and algorithms from mathematical statistics. A study regarding the influence of functional factors on engine dynamics and fuel savings is presented by using Correlation Analysis, Variance Analysis, Information Theory and Sensitivity Analysis. The specific characteristics of vehicle driving in urban and extra-urban environments are highlighted.
