Abstract

With increasing infrastructural demand in today’s world and people being stuck to the traditional procedures of construction, there is definitely a need and scope for new research in this sector. Cement industries having a major impact on carbon footprint and with sustainable materials being dumped in landfill, a huge opportunity is there to utilize the supplementary cementitious materials. With extensive research already done on materials like Fly Ash and GGBS, we would like to extend our research on Sugarcane Bagasse Ash (SCBA) and Banana Peel Powder (BPP). Various physical properties of the materials that include specific gravity and consistency were conducted for cement, sugarcane bagasse ash and banana peel powder. Compressive strength, splitting tensile strength and flexural strength tests were conducted on specimens of M40 grade concrete with 5%, 10%, 15% cement replacement by SCBA and 1%, 2%, 3% cement replacement by BPP for 7, 14, 28 days curing time. All mix design calculations were done according to IS 10262:2019. Then, comparison of mechanical properties of both concrete was done with respect to control concrete.
