Abstract
The research on the pollution characteristics of insulators is of great significance to the design, operation and maintenance of polluted external insulation. The pollution characteristics of insulators can be obtained in a short time by using the artificial pollution characteristic test device to carry out the pollution tests of post insulators and suspension insulators in a simulated environment. The results of artificial pollution test show that when the equivalent salt deposit density (ESDD) of insulator surface is less than 0.6mg/cm2 and the no soluble deposit density (NSDD) is less than 2.0mg/cm2, the amount of pollution on insulator surface increases with the increase of pollution period. As the wind velocity increases from 1 m/s to 6 m/s, the surface contamination of insulators gradually increases first and then decreases. The pollution accumulation difficulty of post insulators and disc suspension insulators is different at the same wind velocity. When the wind velocity is 2m/s, the pollution degree of post insulator is about twice that of disc suspension insulator. When the wind direction is fixed, the pollution on the leeward side of the insulator is characterized by boundary layer separation.
