Abstract

Smart grid introduces to the latest technology which interfaces digital technology application with the power system network to obtain reliable and secure service. The main focus of the work is to address the stability and an extensive fault current issues which arise due to the integration of Electricity producing resources or Controllable loads. Superconducting Fault Current Limiter (SFCL) is a novel technology which suppresses the extensive fault current and enhances the stability of the power system. This paper presents the Modeling of Resistive and Bridge type SFCLs and is connected at the different locations while single phase fault current has been introduced at different positions. A typical power system with penetrating 10MVA wind farm has been modeled in MATLAB / Simulink. The effective performance of SFCLs on micro grid and Comparison between the different positioning of Resistive and Bridge SFCLs are presented.
