Abstract

A total of 250 patients-125 Pregnant and 125 non pregnant women of reproductive age, belonging to middle socioeconomic class were studied for uterine bleeding. The cause of such bleeding from pregnant uterus was highest because of threatened abortion -73(58.4%), followed by ectopic pregnancy 17(13.6%), Missed abortion 17(17.6%), incomplete abortion 11(8.8%), and least because of vesicular mole 7(5.6%). In non pregnant uterus, the cause for bleeding were-DUB 67(53.6%), Fibroid 44()35.2%, Endometritis 9(7.2%), and least in malignancy 5(4%). The pattern histopathology in non pregnant bleeding was-Normal endometrium 56(44.8%), followed by hyperplastic endometrium 44(35.2%), Atrophic endometrium was 15(12%), and least was endometritis 10(8%). This comparative dat will certainly help the OBG & Gynecologist to treat. Such patients to avoid undue alarming emergency.
