Abstract

In order to develop monohull with lower resistance and higher seakeeping ability, wave-piercing deep-V hull and two kinds of bow appendage are developed and compared with a round bilge hull. The roll stability, calm water resistance and seakeeping performance of ships are comparatively investigated by CFD solver. The influence of mesh number on the simulation of ship resistance and motions in regular waves is also analyzed. The results indicate that deep-V hull has better roll and pitch stability than round bilge hull. The water drop-shaped bulbous bow is helpful in the reduction of resistance of deep-V hull at high speed. The semi-submerged bow has more effect in the improvement of pitch stability of deep-V hull compared with the drop-shaped bulbous bow.
