Abstract

Friction Stir Welding (FSW) experiments are conducted on AA7075 aluminum alloys . The temperatures generated in the workpiece and tool during the process are recorded in equal pitch distance. FE analysis is performed for the FSW process and the maximum temperature simulated is validated with FSW experiments and compared with analytical results. Results obtained indicate temperatures and maximum temperature are in close agreement for regular pin geometry . variations in temperatures observed and simulated are seen in complex tool pin profiles.
