Abstract

This work presents a comparative analysis of basic Input and Output Matching Network (IMN and OMN respectively) for Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) design using Advanced Spice Model (ASM) GaN HEMT. LNA designing is done using Common Source (CS) and Cascode amplifier topologies and L, T, π type matching networks are used at input and output. Basic LNA parameter Noise Figure (NF) is compared for all the configurations, out of which effective MN is selected to design a multi-stage LNA using CS and Cascode in Ka-Band (27.25-29 GHz). Designed circuit achieves NF less than 1 dB and gain near 10 dB.
