Abstract

Among the various factors of educational success that has surfaced from international discussions, factors that have attracted the greatest attention are teachers, teaching and teacher education. Similarly, a common emphasis of the chapters in this book is the strong focus on teaching as a profession and the importance of teacher education for strengthening the teaching profession. This chapter presents a comparative meta-analysis of findings from the selected HPES featured in this book. It demonstrates how teachers, teaching and teacher education are unanimously seen as factors of success; and how they operate distinctively in each jurisdiction. It aims to formulate a macro picture about the construction of a productive system that helps lead to and even to sustain educational success.
