Abstract

The paper concerns the comparison of deflections and key strains when dimensioning of two variants of the flexible road pavement loaded with heavy traffic, differing only in the thickness of the asphalt base course. The article shows the impact on values of compared quantities of slow traffic, loading of the braking movement in slow traffic and seasonal temperature of asphalt layers. Moreover, it presents application of viscoelastic models (Bürgers and Huet-Sayegh) and the elastic model of these layers. It has been proven that the relative change of the analysed values in modifying the thickness of the asphalt base course does not depend or does not significantly depend on these factors, although the absolute values of compared quantities strongly depend on the load speed and on the temperature of asphalt layers (and relatively not much on the applied computational model).
