Abstract

In order to better understand the technical requirements of sensory evaluation in national cigarette standard and achieve smooth transition from old to new standards, the new and old definite values of sensory standard were compared statistically. The results showed that, comparing with the old ones, the new definite values raised the degree of positive correlation between items, the positive correlation between irritancy and other items increased significantly; the distinguishability of aroma, offensive taste, irritancy and aftertaste were improved; the degree of discrimination of items against standard samples varied, for example, that of irritancy against high, middle and low class standard samples increased to some extent; the new definite value of total scores increased slightly for high class standard samples, while that for low class decreased slightly, and that of middle class kept the same level.
