Abstract
Objectives: compare cardiovascular risk, quality of life, depression and functionality between patients with seronegative rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and polyarticular psoriatic arthritis (PsA). Materials and methods: data from 45 patients with seronegative RA and 36 with polyarticular PsA were analyzed. Questionnaires were used for depression (CES-D), functionality (Health Assessment Questionnaire, HAQ) and quality of life (SF-12). Carotid intima-media thickness (cIMT) was measured to assess cardiovascular risk. Results: the frequencies of hypertension, diabetes and dyslipidemia were similar between both groups. Patients with PsA had higher body mass index (BMI) and abdominal circumference. cIMT was equivalent between groups. Depression and quality of life did not show significant differences. Patients with RA presented worse functionality according to the HAQ. Conclusions: in our series, patients with RA and seronegative PsA had similarities in quality of life, depression and cardiovascular risk, except for differences in BMI and abdominal circumference, which were higher in PsA. Functionality was worse in AR compared to APs.
