Abstract

In this paper, a compact ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna with quad-notched bands is proposed. The antenna consists of the planar circular patch fed by the 50Ω microstrip I/O port and spiral-slot-array etched on the ground. The UWB operation is introduced by the planar circular patch. Meanwhile, the spiral-slot-array implemented under the feed-line is utilized to allocate quad-resonance for notched responses with a miniaturized circuit size. To verify the mechanism of the structures mentioned above, a UWB antenna with quad-notched bands is then fabricated. The measured result exhibits quad-notched bands with center frequencies of 3.41, 5.16, 5.75, and 6.31 GHz, respectively.
