Abstract

A novel X-band Microstrip Patch Antenna with a high gain is described in this research. X band frequency range has many applications in field of radar, medical, military and space communication. The Microstrip Patch Antenna (MPA) provides many advantages over standard antennas, including a compact design, low weight, easy production process, and low profile. This research proposes a simple rectangular Microstrip patch antenna. Proposed structure is constructed using a FR4- epoxy substrate with dimensions of 18.2 x 14.95 x 1.6 mm3. High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) software is used to model antenna design. The proposed structure has a return loss of -32 dB, a VSWR of 0.5, and a gain of 5.8 dB at a frequency of 10.6 GHz. The results show that the antenna has promise for applications in the X band (8–12 GHz).
