Abstract

This paper presents a compact Segmented Half Cut Antenna (SHCA) for UWB applications with dual band rejection. The suggested antenna made on FR4 substrate and overall size is 6 × 19 × 1.6 mm3. It consists of a C shaped slit on ground plane to control frequency rejection characteristics of WLAN. By adopting half cut method the antenna size is reduced by 50%. The patch is segmented to get the notched properties covering extended C-band and down link X-band. This antenna is suitable for UWB applications ranging from 4.77 GHz to 13.4 GHz with two frequency rejections of 5.01- 6.19 GHz and 6.76-8.03GHz, thus preventing the interference. Height of the ground is adjusted to get wide band response and maximum simulated gain obtained is of 5.5 dB. Half Cut Antenna (HCA) and Segmented Half Cut Antenna (SHCA) have been simulated by HFSS software. Simulated return loss and radiation characteristics are in good agreement with the measured results.
