Abstract

Miniaturized microstrip antenna design with low dispersion, high directivity, low cross polarization, integration with active circuits and better return loss for Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) applications is a challenging task. To obtain the desired requirement, a novel Co-Planar Waveguide (CPW) fed compact square ring annular slot antenna of dimension 28 × 28 mm is proposed for WBAN applications. Analysis of the square ring antenna with and without annular slot with respect to reflection coefficient parameter is carried out. It has been observed the proposed antenna exhibits a better reflection coefficient parameter of -50.72 dB at 2.4 GHz ISM band as compare to square ring antenna without annular slot with minimal trade-off in fractional bandwidth. A quarter wavelength slot λg/4 in the form of square ring is fed by co-planar waveguide technique. Simulation tool software is used for evaluating the best reflection coefficient results.
