Abstract
The following article is an edited version of the SRAB Annual Lecture given at the Royal Institute of British Architects, London, 16 November 1993. The speaker analyses and illustrates the considerable inadequacies of Community Care for deafblind and multiply disabled young people and adults. This particularly vulnerable minority group seldom receives appropriate support because in practice Community Care provision is often determined by financial constraints - not needs-led. Proposed lines of action to remedy the situation are suggested.
