Abstract

The new education law in Romania highlights the need to personalize learning paths for students, also it is mentioned that the professionalization of teachers it has to be focused on general and specific skills. The essential skills in professional education and communication remain a good relationship between teachers and students. Based on effective communication model it is necessary to emphasize the need for training teachers on this dimension and, at the same time, techniques for improving communication with students.The main purpose of this study is to analyze the perceptions of those involved in educational act on its quality in terms of teacher-student communication. Another purpose is to identify training needs of teachers on this dimension of teaching competence. The study conducted during 2011-2012 included a number of 200 subjects including: students, teachers, Head Teachers. The methods we used were based on surveys: Focus Group and individual interviews. Quantitative interpretation was followed by a factorial analysis that revealed in detail the communication parameters as competent staff of teachers. Subjective perception was strongly differentiated by categories of responders: parents, students and teachers. Students believe that teaching skills in communication include it in the sphere of pedagogical vocation while teachers consider that the most important role is continuing education.Perception of different actors in education is teaching on communication issues. Significance of communication skills in teachers is perceived differently in the teacher-student dyads. Following the results we emphasize the need for training teachers in communication skills both in service and pre service.
