Abstract

Officers of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS) decided at the December general assembly of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) in Canberra, Australia, that the time was right to set up a formal group to ‘promote, communicate, and coordinate the applications of remote sensing and data transmission to hydrologic problems.’The result was the International Committee on Remote Sensing and Data Transmission for Hydrology, a formal working group which will have an international membership of researchers involved in all phases of hydrologic study.
