D. program at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the School of Criminology at Florida State University. His areas of interest include victimization and evaluation research. Colin Loftin received a Ph. D. from the Universiry of North Carolina. He is teaching sociology at University of Michigan, and is interested in comparative sociology and methodology. Robert H. Hill teaches sociolog.y at the Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John's. Newfoundland, Canada. R. D. Gastil studied the social sciences, especially anthropology and Middle Eastern studies, at Harvard (Ph.D., 1958). He has worked at the University of Oregon, Hudson Institute, and the Battelle Seattle Research Center. where he examined regional differences and developed the analytic approach of social humanities. He is currently director of a comparative survey of political and civil rights for Freedom House in New York.
