Abstract

Abstract This paper comments on a series of papers published in materials journals. These papers explain the effects of cooling rate and chemical modification on the microstructure and mechanical behavior of an in situ Mg/Mg2Si composite. The issues discussed here include the size and morphology of primary Mg2Si particles in the composite. The purpose of the present comment is to show that the sizes reported for primary Mg2Si particles are not reliable largely underestimating the correct values. The paper also includes criticisms of other mistakes in these papers.
