Abstract

Backround: Riskesdas data in 2018 saw a two-fold increase compared to the 2013 Riskesdas data on dental and oral problems, from 25.9% to 57.6%. Riskesdas data in 2018 West Java Province has problems with dental and oral health slightly exceeding the national figure of 58%. It is necessary to educate the public, especially children, to inculcate proper tooth brushing behavior. The counseling given can use the Comepopa media. The Research objective: to determine the effect of comepopa media on the skills and dental hygiene status of preschool children in the study group PUI Sindangwargi. Research method: using a quasi-experimental design with one group pre-test post-test design. Sampling with a total sampling of 22 respondents. The measuring instrument uses an observation sheet on brushing practices and a sheet measuring the status of dental hygiene using the PHP-M indeks. Analysis of hypothetical data using the Wilcoxon test. The results of the study: there was an increase after counseling with Comepopa media on tooth brushing skills from 4.64 to 8.32 and there was a decrease after counseling with Comepopa media on dental hygiene from 36.64 to 27.00. Wilcoxon test results obtained p value = 0.000 (<0.05). Conclusion: there is an effect of comepopa media on the skills and dental hygiene status of preschool children in the PUI Sindangwargi study group.
