Abstract
It has been shown that if perfect channel state information is available at the transmitter, the performance of a space-time coded system can be dramatically improved by weighting the transmitted signals. In this reported work, the performance of combined space-time turbo trellis codes and ideal beamforming is evaluated. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme considerably outperforms the conventional space-time turbo trellis codes without weighting and it approaches the MIMO channel capacity within about 1.5 dB with a moderate interleaver size over quasi-static fading channels.
