Abstract

Conventional psycholherapy for adolescent and adult incest supivors has limitations in resolving some of the many issues with which survivors present. The authors found that neither individual nor traditional group beatment thoroughly resolved issues of perceived culpabiliry, positive idenrification with other survivors, grief and low self-esteem. To address these issues, we designed and implemented a weekend retreat that joined adult and adolescent women who were sexually abused as children. The tremendous success of this modality led to five annual retreats, which are here described. A theoretical framework, method, and descriptive analysis are presented.
