Abstract

Regenerative braking can be used in electric vehicles as a process for recycling the brake energy, which is impossible in the conventional internal combustion vehicles. PI control is a popular method in electric car control, but it is difficult to obtain correct brake current. By combining fuzzy management and proportional integral control ways, regenerative braking force will distribute the mechanical braking force and electrical braking force. Braking force is mainly effected by many factors and three most important factors: SOC, speed, and brake strength are taken as the fuzzy control input variables. Regenerative Braking System (RBS) can obtain brake current, which is used to produce brake torque. PI control have adopted to adjust the BLDC motor PWM duty to obtain the constant brake torque. PI control is quicker than fuzzy control, that two methods combined together can realize sleek transitions. The performance of the proposed system has been analyzed through simulation using MATLAB-SIMULINK.
